Determination of Phthalocyanines
Part
II. Phthalocyanines Stable in Concentrated Sulphuric Acid
by Rudolf Slota, Gabriela Dyrda and Witold Waclawek
Institute of Chemistry, University of Opole,48 Oleska Street, 45-095 Opole, Poland
Key words: phthalocyanine, metal phthalocyanines, VIS spectral analysis
The work was done to show the usefulness of VIS spectroscopy in quantitative
studies of different phthalocyanine compounds. In particular, it was focused
on unsubstituted metal phthalocyanines commonly believed to be stable in
concentrated sulfuric acid. As a result, a simple spectral analytical method
(VIS), which is a n extention of the one previously presented has
been proposed for the determination of a number of d - electron metal phthalocyanines,
Mpc (where M = Cu, Co, Ni, Zn and pc is the phthalocyanine ligand (C32H16N8)2-
. Statistical evaluation of the results obtained in the control tests have
proved the described method to be useful both in industrial and scientific
research applications.
