Educational and
professional goals:

Ability to use the computer for text editing as well as for the presentation of the results of experiments (plots, tables, mathematical formulas and chemical structure schemes). Also the proficiency in the basic use of the Internet is expected.

Course description:

The basic architecture of the computer, its logic, output-input devices. The idea of the operating system. Files, their attributes, creating and manipulation. The architecture of computer memory, data structure. The Windows computer environment. Text editor - Microsoft Word: its function, text editing, creation of tables, editing of mathematical equations. Practical training in professional text editing. Preparation of plots from experimental data - the statistical analysis of date, creation of regression equations for data smoothing and analysis. Microsoft PowerPoint - preparation of the presentations. LINUX - basic commands and the presentation of file manipulation. Basic network services: e-mail, ftp, www. Skills in surfing the Internet.
