Teaching Division:

Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry

Educational and
professional goals:

Getting acquainted with basic chemical equilibria prevailing in aqueous solutions; application in qualitative analysis.

Course description:

Laboratory experiments introducing various types of chemical equilibria in aqueous solutions including: acids and bases; weak and strong buffers; solubility and complexation processes. Mixed systems: effect of acid/ bases and complexation on solubility. Application of the above equilibria for the identification of ions in aqueous solutions. In parallel, chemical properties of chosen anions and cations are experimentally verified.

Required background:

Chemistry at the level of secondary education.

Form of assessment:

Tests.
