Physical Chemistry

Educational and
professional goals:

The aim of this tutorial is that students gain experience in problem solving and performing calculations in physical chemistry.

Course description:

Thermodynamics. The first law of thermodynamics: internal energy, enthalpy, molar heat capacities, Hess’s law, Kirchhoff’s equation, ideal gas expansion. The second law of thermodynamics: second law state functions, entropy calculations, entropy for chemical reactions. Free energy, activities, thermodynamic relations. Chemical equilibrium: quilibrium constants, equilibrium in aqueous solutions.
