Educational and
professional goals:

Presentation of most common methods of instrumental chemical analysis including fundamentals and example applications.

Course description:

The lecture presents basic steps of analytical procedure: sampling, sample pretreatment, detection and signal processing. It also includes the use of molecular spectroscopy, atomic spectrometry, electrochemical methods and mass spectrometry as detection methods. Separation methods presented include fundamentals of chromatography and capillary electrophoresis, instrumentation for liquid and gas chromatography, as well as capillary electrophoresis. As examples of modern concepts of analytical instrumentation are presented some elements of sensor technology, miniaturized devices and biochemical detection methods.
