Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry

Educational and
professional goals:

This course will reinforce the techniques and skills that synthetic inorganic chemists employ in their work and students will be encouraged to develop their lab skills in an independent manner.

Course description:

Students participating in this course perform eight experiments regarding various aspects of advanced inorganic chemistry such as usage of catalysts based on transition metals, syntesis of nano- and amorphous materials and its characterization, formation of self-assembly monolayers, oscillation reactions, kinetics of complexation reactions and formation of amalgams. Students use microscale techniques to synthesize compounds and several characterization techniques to analyze the products including: NMR, SEM and Electron Microprobe elemental analysis, STM and UV/Vis spectrometry measurements.
