Organic Chemistry

Educational and
professional goals:

By the end of the course, the student should be able to propose synthetic routs to complex organic compounds using the concepts of retrosynthesis and synthetic strategy discussed in the lectures.

Course description:

This course, after introduction of the fundamental concepts of retrosynthetic analysis, will cover retrosynthetic analysis of aromatic compounds, alkanes, alkenes, as well as cyclic compounds. Next, this lecture will focus on protecting group chemistry and its implementation to organic synthesis. The last part of the lecture will show some examples of retrosynthesis and synthesis of complex organic structures.
