professional goals:

Presentation of the influence of different chemical forms of elements on their toxicity and availability in the environment and applications of hyphenated methods in speciation analysis.

Course description:

Fundamental aspects of speciation analysis: definitions of speciation; fractionation and speciation analysis; biochemical cycles of elements and the relation between chemical form of element and its toxicity; estimation of mobility and bioavailability of elements in soils and sediments based on single and sequential extractions; methods of sample preparation for speciation analysis; application of voltammetry, hydride generation technique and hyphenated methods ( e.g. HPLC ICP MS, HPLC ESI MS) in speciation analysis.

Required background:


Knowledge of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis.
