The presentation will be divided into to parts.
The first part will be focused on demonstration of suitability of rotating ring disc electrode (RRDE) and rotating disc electrode (RDE) in studies of catalysts activity towards oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in neutral pH electrolyte with special attention returned to their numerous limitations. The application of redox competition of scanning electrochemical microscope (RC-SECM) measurements will be suggested to complement RRDE and RDE to achieve an in-depth insight into the reaction path of O2 reduction at different catalysts. Additionally, a novel approach of determination of kinetic rate constants with RC-SECM will be also proposed, where extracted values will be compared to those obtained with RDE technique.
During the second part I will present a facile route for preparation of new carbon-supported ruthenium selenide that is found to be highly stable and active in ORR. Influence on nitrogen doping will be discussed. The heat treated catalysts were subjected to physical characterization, like X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Catalytic performances of obtained catalysts were evaluated using RRDE and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in acid solution.
