Educational and
professional goals:

Basic knowledge of physics necessary for the student of Chemistry, skills of simple problems solving and performing the appropriate calculations.

Course description:

Fundamental laws of physics with taking into consideration vector calculus, elements of differential and integral calculus. Vectors, basic vector operations. Fundamental concepts of kinematics. Newton’s laws of dynamics, different types of forces. Mutual interactions in micro- and macro- scale: electromagnetic, nuclear, gravitational interactions, elastic forces, friction, normal forces. Intermolecular forces. Dependence of the motion path on acting forces; straight-line motion, curve-line motion, circular motion. Relativity of motion, inertial and noninertial frames of references. Rigid body dynamics. Principles of conservation of: momentum, angular momentum, energy. Work and energy. Potential energy in the fields of conservative forces, gravitational field and electrostatic field. Oscillations, normal vibrations of simple molecules, mechanical waves.

Required background:

Knowledge of physics at the level taught in the secondary schools, in classes with the chemical-biological profile.
