Physics and Radiochemistry

Educational and
professional goals:

Skills of solving of simple physics problems taking into consideration vector calculus, elements of differential and integral calculus.

Course description:

The aim of the classes is the mathematical illustration of problems presented on the lecture from Physics A. Topics of classes are directly connected with the topics of the lectures. Vectors, basic vector operations. Fundamental concepts of kinematics. Newton’s laws of dynamics, different types of forces. Mutual interactions in micro- and macro- scale: electromagnetic, nuclear, gravitational interactions, elastic forces, friction, normal forces. Intermolecular forces. Dependence of the motion path on acting forces; straight-line motion, curve-line motion, circular motion. Relativity of motion, inertial and noninertial frames of references. Rigid body dynamics. Principles of conservation of: momentum, angular momentum, energy. Work and energy. Potential energy in the fields of conservative forces, gravitational field and electrostatic field. Oscillations, normal vibrations of simple molecules, mechanical waves.

Required background:

Skills of basic mathematical calculations at the level of the secondary school.

Form of assessment:

Tests and participation in classes.

Remarks:

Positive grade at physics classes is required for admission to the exam.
