Educational and
professional goals:

Upon completing the course students should be able to interpret 1D and 2D NMR spectra of organic compounds.

Course description:

1. Analysis of 1D and 2D NMR spectra of the substituted cyclohexanes and derivatives of bicyclo[3.2.1]octane. 1H NOE spectra and their application for establishing the configuration and conformation of compounds.
2. Interpretation of spectra recorded using different NMR techniques.
3. Analysis of 2D NMR spectra of peptides: TOCSY - establishing amino acid content, ROESY - establishing amino acid sequence, identification of fragments with hindered rotation (nonsequential NOE).

Required background:

Organic Chemistry II.

Form of assessment:

Written test

Remarks:

A course is mandatory for students specializing in biological chemistry.
