Educational and
professional goals:

Practical learning how to solve statistical problems related to the topics presented during lectures, accomplishment of an individual statistical problem and practice in presentation of results.

Course description:

Practical classes are focused on statistical problems related to subsequent lectures on brief history of statistics, exploratory parameters, random variables and their distributions, confidence intervals, testing of statistical hypotheses, ANOVA, regression analysis, correlation analysis, nonparametric methods and sequential methods. :Having completed this brief course of statistics, students switch over to four literature and crystallographic databases such as: Cambridge Structural Database, Inorganic Structural Database, Protein Data Bank and literature database from the Thompson Institute (former ICI in Philadelphia). At the end of the course each student is completing his/her individual project and presents the final results in the form or oral presentation.
