Educational and
professional goals:

Designed for students who wish to acquire knowledge in programming in Fortran as well as to learn the skills which are necessary to solve numerical problems of chemical data elaboration.

Course description:

Writing simple programs that contain basic elements of Fortran (version Fortran 77 and Fortran 90): names, types, constants, variables, arrays, arithmetic and logical expressions, do-loops, assignment, input/output commands, conditional expressions, standard functions. Structural elements: functions, subroutines, modules. Running programs in various computer systems. Simple debugging. Linking libraries accessible via internet: numerical recipes. Writing simple parallel codes.

Required background:


Mathematics, physics and chemistry (1st and 2nd year Chemistry).
