professional goals:

After completion of this course student should know definitions and classifications of biosensors, principles of their constructions and operation as well as their potential use in modern analytical chemistry.

Course description:

The lecture is devoted to:

(I) mechanisms of biochemical and biological molecular recognition and their utility for biosensing schemes development,
(II) biomolecules immobilization
(III) analytical performance of biosensors
(IV) applications of biosensors in modern analytical chemistry (mainly clinical, environmental and food analysis),
(V) commercial aspects of biosensors,
(VI) new trends in biosensor development.
