professional goals:

An introduction to basic notions, phenomena, kinetics and processes in polymer chemistry.

Course description:

Following topics are discussed during the lecture: thermodynamic conditions of polyrections; step and chain reactions - kinetic differences, conventional and living/controlled radical polymerization; ionic (anionic and cationic) initiation; mechanism and kinetics of coordinated polymerization; mechanism and kinetics of copolymerization and mutipolymerization; reactivity ratio determination methods; investigation methods of polymerization reaction; use of various polymerization processes in practice; monomers and polymers.

Required background:


Organic Chemistry and Chemical Technology.

Form of assessment:


Written examination.
