Joanna Pawłowska and Olga Święch defended doctoral thesis

PhD students from our group: Joanna Pawłowska and Olga Święch defended their PhD thesis.

Joanna in her work called "Electrochemistry of azamacocyclic complexes in rotaxanes and supramolecular receptors" investigated the properties of new azamacrocyclic complexes and explored the possibilities of using them in electrochemically switched systems, intertwined (rotaxanes, catenanes) or receptors for small guest molecules.

Main goal of Olga's thesis called "Aromatic derivatives of β-cyclodextrin as drug carriers for antracycline drugs" was investigation of modified cyclodextrines properties: solubility, stability constants of complex with doxorubicine in different pH and its cytotoxic effect on tumor cells.

Congratulations!

Michał Kizling gets Diamond Grant

Our MSc student Michał Kizling got Diamond Grant from Ministry of Science and Higher Education. His research project called "Application of Nanostructural Carbon Based Composites in Enzymatic Fuel Cell and Biosensing Technology" is one of the 86 awarded funding at this year.

The “Diamond Grant” program was announced by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, in order to boost the exceptionally gifted students’ scientific careers. It is targeted for young people conducting scientific research during their studies at schools of higher education. The “Diamond Grant” winners will receive up to PLN 200,000. The money can be earmarked for research-related expenses, as well as for remuneration of the young scientists, equaling at least PLN 2,500.

The “Diamond Grant” does not only serve as a considerable financial support. It also opens the path to an early doctorate dissertation and to embarking on the career of an independent researcher. The program fits well with the assumptions of the higher education reform, aimed at supporting the careers of young generation scientists.
