Conducting polymers and other systems, which are subject to studies in our lab, show electrochromic properties. To study them a UV-VIS spectrophotometer (Lambda 12- Perkin Elmer), which is coupled with electrochemical set-up (Autolab – Eco Chemie), is used.
Simultaneous measurement of UV-VIS spectra along with electrochemical parameters simplifies an interpretation of electrode processes. The studies of layers deposited on a transparent conducting glass ITO are carried out. In such case a light passing through a sample is registered. UV-VIS reflectance spectra are obtained as well. Reflectance method can be generally applied to studies of colored substances on surface of metals and semiconductors.
